Shelly Hanson is the founding mother of the Armadillo Project in Hibbing MN.  Shelly shares her and her son Travis Nowak’s experience of navigating the resources and systems involving military mental health and suicide in northern Minnesota.  The Armadillo Project was established from their experience in hopes of helping others connect.  Shelly speaks publicly of her loss to reduce the stigma of depression and suicide. She presents information she has learned from her son on depression and how systems can change their response to a person who identifies as being suicidal.
