About

Home Based Minnesota connects Minnesota businesses and communities to a skilled workforce of transitioning service members.

Home Based Minnesota is a collaborative project. The Armadillo Project has coordinated with MN Deed, military transition assistance program (TAPS), Iron Range Tourism Bureau, local business and education communities. These collaborations have help to develop a comprehensive resource to connect military personnel separating from the military to Minnesota for work and education.

In April of 2021, the Federal government launched the Employment Navigator and Partnership Pilot. Shane (2021) reports, "The move comes amid efforts in recent years to improve the military's Transition Assistance Program and provide more targeted assistance for soon-to-be veterans. About 200,000 service members separate or retire each year, many without clear employment plans for the future."

The skills learned during military service are invaluable. Communities of Minnesota recognize the opportunity to bring diversity to the workforce. Home Base Minnesota results from the determination to honor our service members and develop a diverse talent pipeline for our business communities. Its success will be due to the support of the communities and the people who make up our hometowns.
